The 53-year-old widow has opposed culling, or killing animals on purpose to reduce their population. Mrs. Irwin revealed to her late husband’s admirers during the tragic conversation that he always believed his life would be brief.
Sadly, Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray when he was filming “Ocean’s Deadliest.” His wife Terri was instructed to contact the zoo management. It was extremely difficult for her to tell their children, Bindi and Robert. Terri thought back to the regret and suffering she had felt after hearing the news.
Terri Irwin has been Steve Irwin’s widow for 16 years, but she still feels anguish. “Every day is painful, and after 16 years, the sadness stops being a rock in your heart and starts walking alongside you,” she said in an interview.
“I never really know when it will hit me,” the person said. Terri always laments having lost Steve, but she counts herself lucky to have had him in her “happily ever after.”
Steve Irwin, 44, died on September 4, 2006, while filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef not far from Port Douglas. He died from bleeding to death after being stabbed by a stingray’s barb.

Steve’s wife and two small children, who also loved the outdoors, are left behind. Terri asserts that despite Steve’s notoriety over the years, he never allowed it to harm her.
